3 Reasons Why I Wrote Type A Christian

 Two of the reasons that I wrote this book are pictured above with the first being my Heavenly Father who brought these two into my life! God has blessed me with Rob, a supportive Christian husband who has not only encouraged my writing, but continues to inspire me in setting aside his desire to coach and answering his call to preach. My daughter, Reese, who is the answer to our prayers inspires me every day to remain faithful, even in times of uncertainty & doubt. 

It was very important to include my personal testimony as the basis for writing my first book. I discuss how my husband and I struggled through years of infertility. And later, our faith was tested again when our only daughter was diagnosed with hearing loss. My life had been uneventful until we were forced to cope with these specific trials. 

I have always been a self-motivated, goal-oriented person, which has always created success in regards to my education and career. However, my Type A traits were challenged when I encountered these trials as a believer. After Reese's diagnosis, I was upset and angry and fearful at the same time. Stress began to overtake my mind, and my former traits of being organized and ambitious, soon turned to bitterness, impatience, and overwhelm. As a Christian, I knew that my faith was lacking because I was trying to rely on myself instead of God. In fact, many of my Type A personality traits were actually the complete opposite of the fruit as granted by the Holy Spirit! Once I finally understood which negative traits to prune, I was finally able to submit to the Holy Spirit who provided room for my fruitful growth. 

If you are like me and try to solve all of your problems, you may never understand the benefits of submitting your cares, worries, and requests to God through prayer. And, when you focus on worldly success as I did, you may never discover God's perfect plan for your lives! I never really felt like God spoke to me until after my daughter's birth, which I write about in the introduction of my book. I know without a doubt that God revealed both the title and the idea for this book to benefit others who are Type A just like me--but you will have to read to find out how God spoke to me! And although it took over a decade to write and publish my first two books, it was very important for me to hold true to the promise as written in the Old Testament verse listed above. If God kept His promise in sending Jesus Christ, our Savior, to die for our sins and to defeat death in order for all  believers to have eternal life (John 3:16), I intended to keep my promise to God, no matter how long it took me to finish!

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law" (Galatians 5:22-23).
